Your Horse There are many variations on the form of a horse. That is why it is so important to obtain specific measurements for your trail horse.

Two common symptoms of a saddle that does not fit your horse are withers sensitive to the touch and/or bruising, puffiness or gall sores.

Knowledge of your horse’s withers influences the shape of TrailMaster Saddle Tree which is the most critical piece of the saddle. The body shape of the horse from the withers backward is the key difference in a successful saddle fit.

Our trees are custom, molded polypropylene. The tree is light, strong and doesn’t warp. The bars of the tree are sculpted to fit your horse’s shape.

Bars Diagram A common myth is that the saddle is supported on your horse’s back. A well fitting saddle actually is supported by the horse’s rib cage not the back.

The bars of the tree actually have contact with the horse’s ribs, not the backbone. They are sculpted to conform to the horse’s shape. The bars are flared to permit freedom of movement for the horse.

Our unique rigging is designed to distribute pressure around the tree, instead of across the back of the horse. This feature provides greater saddle stability.

Many behavioral problems arise from a saddle that does not fit. If your horse acts out – check the saddle fit first.
